My cats become aggressively cuddly whenever I'm visibly stressed out about a tight deadline, and though they are not at all helping the situation, I appreciate that they're trying to help.

[ID: #my cats will actively try and hinder me from doing things when im stressed #like full on jump in front of my legs like they're trying to take a bullet meant for the president #like sweet sweet baby I appreciate your efforts #but I would be a lot less stressed if I could walk down this hallway without being pursued by the worlds loudest heat seeking missile]

When I first saw the statues of he first King and Queen of Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom I was like "oh, great, another fictional species where the men are all monstery and the women look like humans wearing body paint", but then I saw the first flashback and nope, actually they're an interspecies couple – the Queen is Hylian.

So why did I get the impression from the statue that they were both supposed to be Zonai?

Then I did another shrine and realised: the statue depicts the Queen with Hylian features, but Zonai proportions. You can tell just by looking that the sculptor was Zonai because they messed with the Queen's proportions to bring her in line with Zonai beauty standards.

I enjoy the recurring "blowing up the moon to prevent Saiyans from transforming" bit in Dragon Ball because it requires us to accept not only that there exist characters who are powerful enough to casually annihilate celestial bodies but not powerful enough to fight one (1) giant monkey, but that this very specific situation – i.e., characters who are exactly powerful enough to blow up the moon but not to fight the monkey being called upon to fight the monkey – inexplicably arises on multiple unconnected occasions.

#do they ever explain how the moon keeps coming back or does it just get wished back every time (via @hc-ic)

I mean, usually? One instance of the moon being blown up that I'm aware of was later retconned as a cunning illusion, and there's at least one case of the moon getting blown up twice in a row with no explanation at all because – by his own later admission – the author just plain forgot that the moon was currently destroyed, so.

I love how a lot of gaming media has completely checked out of the nerdfight over what is and is not a "metroidvania" and just started calling everything "action platformers". Like, fuck it – Super Mario World and Super Metroid are the same genre. Are you happy? This is what your pedantry has wrought – are you happy now?

@prostheticfetus replied:

I still hate that rpgs with deep complicated stories are always tagged "casual". It's not a word for easy. Casual games are their own type of game… Gamers ruin gaming.

In some venues the #casual tag is functionally a code-word for "games that girls play" – which often leads to ridiculous situations like the same game being tagged both #casual and #difficult.

catgirldragon asked:

There's certainly an inverse correlation between the silliness of a blog's name and how accurately it describes the content - kobold or mousegirl blogs, for example, are far more likely to heavily feature their respective subject matter than catgirl blogs.

prokopetz answered:

This is admittedly a radical notion, but I suspect this is a calculus whose answer may somewhat differ when consideration is extended to blogs which are not also girls.
